The DG SANCO consultation

In April 2009, the DG SANCO consulted the key stakeholders involved in European work with the European Commission in the areas of social policy and unemployment policy in order to develop a Commission Communication aiming to support the reduction of health inequalities in the EU.

The DG SANCO Consultation - Determining Legal Instruments for the EU

Determining binding legal instrument, within the EU so that undocumented migrants may access to health care is not formally an EU issue, but rather a national issue. However, it is linked to the fight against illegal immigration as well as to public health, which both are EU issues in some aspects.

So is the EU Commission (DG SANCO) preparing a Communication aiming to support the reduction of health inequalities in the EU. The HUMA network contributed and is following the process in order to make sure that legal and practical difficulties encountered by undocumented migrants are taken into consideration.
