Like the Médecins du Monde network in Europe, Médecins du Monde Germany also offers to individuals without documents basic medical care – regardless of their origin. In September 2006, open.med, the medical care station for people in need, was opened in the center of Munich.
The uninsured and migrants receive here, anonymously and gratis, access to health care.
Advocacy
Awareness raising is the second string to Médecins du Monde Germany’s bow. By means of encounteers between policy-makers, organisations and administrative officers, Médecins du Monde Germany is pushing up for legislative and adminstrative changes.
We also capitalised on the notoriety of larger public events to present and discuss publicly the living conditions of undocumented migrants and Asylum-seekers, e.g. through a photografic exhibition.
