Monitoring social determinants of health and reduction of health inequalities

The Spanish Ministry of Health and Social Policy has established “Innovation in Public Health: monitoring social determinants of health and reduction of health inequalitiesas one of the priorities for the Spanish presidency of the European Union in the first semester of 2010.

 

On the basis of a draft report prepared by the Spanish presidency, draft conclusions have been prepared, one of which being that children and pregnant women should receive universal access to health care irrespective of their residence status. These draft reports and conclusions will be presented and discussed in Madrid during meetings to be held between 21-23 April, before being formally adopted during the EPSCO Council meeting of 8 June. HUMA network members are getting in contact with national experts preparing the Council of Health Ministers meetings, to seek their support for this specific draft Council conclusion.
