Resolution on the Stockholm programme

The European Parliament has adopted a resolution on the Stockholm programme, in which it namely stresses “the importance of granting migrants access to justice, housing, education and health care, in accordance with, inter alia, the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families”. In the meantime, “the possibility of establishing common standards for taking charge of illegal immigrants who cannot be deported” has been dropped from its latest version. The Stockholm programme is due to be agreed by the JHA Council on 30 November-1 December 2009 and then formally adopted by the European Council in Stockholm on 10 December 2009.
